The Pilón Lajas BR-TCO suffered one of the worst fires in its history in 2023, as fires set by hundreds of people seeking to expand the agricultural frontier spread over a large part of the protected area. Park ranger Lander summarises some of the impacts of the fires on the natural heritage of Pilón Lajas.
