The river turtle (Podocnemis unifilis) is a turtle that suffers a lot of pressure from the illegal trade of its eggs and meat. Thanks to the Tacana initiative, it has now been possible to protect the nesting sites of the river turtle, such as the beaches of the community of Villa Fatima, where the Tacana communities are now protecting these sites of vital importance for the survival of the species.
