In several sectors of Bolivia, the practice of “”chaqueo”” or burning of cultivated areas has come to be seen as a beneficial practice to renew soil nutrients, but it has been forgotten that fire cannot be completely controlled and can cause excessive fires and affect both the environment and the health of the community members. In many cases, the fires have reached water sources and the properties of many people. Justo gives us a strong message to stop burning crops.
