The Pilón Lajas Biosphere Reserve and Communal Land of Origin is one of 23 protected areas in Bolivia and one of the few managed jointly with its indigenous peoples, given its characteristics and location, which are so important for the country’s water resources, indigenous peoples and Amazonian forests. Alvaro, its director, explains the importance and characteristics of the protected area.
