Access to water is limited in areas adjacent to the river, so the water that the Tacana people have access to is neither drinkable nor safe. This not only affects the health of the communities but also makes them more vulnerable. In addition, the contamination of the Beni River, both by mercury and sediment, makes it impossible to use the water for drinking.
