Thanks to the actions of both the Madidi NP-IMNA and agricultural technicians from the “Apolo” Technological Institute, it has been possible to reproduce native or “criollo” varieties of cocoa to be distributed among communities in Madidi as a more ecological development alternative to mechanised mining in the sector, and which in turn seeks to enable Apolo to be able to produce its own food and reduce dependence on the city, which has generated a social gap that increases the pressure on the population to work in gold mining.
